Logical Operations is the chosen curriculum provider for over 300 students in Uganda who will participate in the country's first-ever Microsoft Office Specialist competition.

The Ministry of Education and Sports and the Ministry of Information and Technology in partnership with Majaso Company Limited have organized the Microsoft Office Specialist competition where over 300 students from 12 Ugandan schools will participate and be rewarded.

Addressing journalists at the Media Centre in Kampala on Tuesday, Prof Venansius Baryamureeba noted that this program is aimed at helping students acquire Information and Communications Technology (ICT) skills.

"We want to see that the students get the required ICT skills like in Microsoft office and excel," noted Baryamureeba.

He added that the government is trying to review the ICT policy that was put in place in 2003 so that it accommodates sectors like health, education and agriculture.

He further noted that they want the program to cater for all the pupils right from primary to higher institutions of learning.

“This is just a start and I can assure you that in two years the project will be big and we will be targeting all schools in Uganda," noted Baryamureeba.

In his speech, Soor Kulvinder, Director of Majaso Company noted that the winners from Uganda will join others from the other parts of the world to participate in the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championships in USA where winners will get scholarships.

"We are excited to hold the first Microsoft Office Specialist competition in Uganda and send two finalists to represent the country in the world championship," noted Kulvinder.
