According to the IT Security Economics Report from Kaspersky Labs, a terrifying 77% of businesses suffered a cyberattack last year. As the number of companies who have come forward and admitted to being attacked has continued to grow larger over the past few years, it is no surprise that this percentage is as high as it is currently.
No matter how big or small your company is, you could easily be the next target of a cyberattack and become part of this 77%. The question that you should be asking yourself is what you can be doing to best protect your company before your data is threatened.
By doing these three things, you can help ensure that your company does not become part of this frightening statistic:
- Take a Risk Management Approach – The companies that are the most protected and with the best overall security track record understand that that they cannot guarantee that everything is ironclad and secure every single moment of every single day. They instead take a risk management approach like an insurance company would. An audit should be conducted to help identify where the most valuable data and information is located, then these areas need to be made priorities so that resources are allocated first to protect them.
- Enforce Good Cybersecurity Policies – After the risk management assessments have been completed and you understand exactly where your most valuable data is located, you must put together the right cybersecurity policies in to place. These policies must be constantly updated and effectively communicated to all employees, as well as continually enforced. A good policy that is well thought out outlines which systems should be in place to safeguard data from attacks, as well as what employees should do before, during, and after an attack.
- Train All Employees – Your employees should be aware of your cybersecurity policies and should know exactly what they need to do to be part of your security solution. The best way to educate your employees is with company-wide training. At Logical Operations, we take a holistic approach to cybersecurity training and certification with our CyberSec First Responder™ (CFR) program and certification. This unique program builds on the skillsets of cybersecurity employees to ensure that they are well rounded so that they understand the tools, processes, and strategies that are used to protect an organization. To ensure that every employee is knowledgeable about the security issues that threaten your company, our CyberSAFE™ training shows participants how to identify many of the common issues in end-user technology.
By taking the necessary steps to make sure that all three of these steps are covered, your organization has a much smaller chance of becoming a part of the ever-growing number of companies who have been breached.
