Be Ready – Students are Coming!

Healthcare IT (HIT) courses are heavily in-demand and training currently requested most often.

Healthcare issues dominate the news with a stream of continuous and heated debate about extended insurance coverage, ever rising healthcare costs and expensive procedures.
  • The 2009 Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act – requires U.S. paper records in medical facilities to be transferred to electronic records by 2015
  • Over $19 Billion Funding – allocated by the U.S. government to fund electronic medical records
  • Increasing Job Demand – The healthcare information technology sector is forecasted to create 50,000 to 200,000 new jobs between February 2010 and 2015
  • High Growth Occupations – Ten of the twenty fastest growing occupations in the U.S. are healthcare-related, potentially yielding 3.2 million new jobs over the next decade

What is not in debate is the need for immediate and large cost reductions. For example, it is now estimated that over $200 billion is spent each year for redundant and/or unnecessary medical tests/examinations, caused principally by the inability to share medical information/records and the risk of liability. To help reduce costs and improve care, the U.S. is transitioning to electronic health records. As the U.S. transitions to electronic medical records, the Healthcare IT industry is exploding with opportunities for skilled IT professionals capable of supporting the multitude of systems, help desks, projects, implementations and IT server and security needs behind HIT.
